No, it's not a newspaper for drunks
http://www.lush.com - Lush is a company that makes handmade
cosmetics (soap, lotion, bath products) with as few preservatives as
possible. Their latest catalog mentions Careless Love:
The Olive Branch shower gel
The name and the inspiration for this beautifully uplifting shower gel
comes from a Leonard Cohen song, Dance Me to the End of Love, which
[owner] Mark heard on Madeleine Peyroux's album, Careless Love.
"Life me like an olive branch 'til I'm safely gathered in," it
says. That's the feeling we want you to have when you smell its
fragrance of Sicilian mandarin juice. The olive branch has been a
symbol of peace for millennia; our gel has 3% organic olive oil from
two sources: an olive grove formerly owned by the Sicilian Mafia and
now run as a co-operative by former homeless drug addicts and a
Palestenian-Israeli joint venture, run by women on land in occupied
territories which was being wasted as a result of the conflict.
Marco di Gregorio from Lush in Italy sourced there for us and he said,
"We no longer have a choice in politics. The only place we have a
choice is where we go shopping." Lush can now "shop" on a large
scale and if we can do something useful while we're at it then this is
a good thing. Buy some. |
They also have a new chocolate shower gel called Sonic Death Monkey, named after Barry's band in High Fidelity.

Lush used to be a tiny company in the UK and they have since expanded
internationally, so hopefully this little mention will turn lots of
soap obsessed customers into Madeleine fans!
