This past Saturday, Kermit Ruffins and the Barbeque Swingers played in Chicago. In route to the show, I gave Kermit a copy of Careless Love. He definitely is enjoyed hearing her and is interested in possibly seeing her or even having her sit in with him. He's not sure if he'll be able to see herset on April 30th at the fest in Economy Hall, but was hoping that she might be around to sit in on one of hissets -Vaughan's on a Thursday night would be incredible, though he does have shows all through Jazzfest- if Madeleine or any of her management can email me at denrun262@hotmail.com - I'd be more than happy to pass on Kermit's number.
Thanks,
Greetings from NOLA.

Heard Peyroux and Galison’s CD on WWOZ all week and
heard William interviewed on Bob French’s show. He Played
the song about the frog. Sounds like a decent enough guy. Was
hoping to see Galison at Madeleine’s show, but no dice. Heard
he played the first week.

Hadn’t heard of either of them before, but after hearing the
interview I bought both “Careless Love” and “Got You On My
Mind” at the Jazzfest CD tent.

Both Cd’s are topnotch. Madeleine is a superb artist on record.
I hate to say this on my first posting, but after hearing the CD’s
performance on Saturday was a bit of a let down. The group
was listed as the “Madeleine Peyroux Quartet “ but it was a
three piece quartet. Was Galison supppose to be on the gig?
There was a drum set onstage but no drummer.

The organ player was excellent and the bass player adequate,
but the show seemed unrehearsed and lacked the comittment
of other shows I saw that day. Peyroux has a lovely voice, and
a unique delivery, but she seemed to be upset about
something- almost in tears. On the sentimental songs her
apparent sadness was quite moving, but when she sang the
old Billie tune “Heaven To Me” her joylessness was somewhat
alarming. Anybody else see the show?

Hope Peyroux is alright- hope to see her again on a better day.
Anybody know if she’s okay?

BTW, A friend saw Galison at Vaughn's with Kermit Ruffins last
Thursday night. Said he played three sets and blew everyone
away. Sorry I missed that- Vaughn's is a crazy scene during
jazz fest.

Here's a review. Looks like he wasn't pleased with the stage setup.
