Is it true that she doesn't like the audience singing along with her?

Hi Erica

It's been some time since I corresponded in the discussion forum on
Madeleine's sight - it is good to be back on line with other Madeleine
fans.

Does Madeleine like the audience singing along? Well her music is
exquistely subtle and much of it soft and demands quiet - songs like "I
look around" and "j'ai deux amour" .   Madeleine often comments on how
quiet the auditorium is. However, I have never heard her demand quiet.
With her recent album, she has a number of more rock and roll type
songs, such as "A little bit" and "I'm Alright" and the couple of times I
have seen her live in the last year in NYC she has positively demanded
audience engagement. And when she played Town Hall with Odetta -
Odetta made the audience sing along and in the encore with Madeleine
and Odetta singing Careless Love together the audience where
encouraged to sing along. I also remeber her at another gig in DC I think
encouraging the audience to sing along to Smile.

So does that answer your question. It should be remembered that
Madeleine started off as a street musician where I am sure she and her
band would have been delighted by an attentive audience that wanted to
sing along!

Keep enjoying the music.

Daisy
