In my opinion, UK Universal wouldn't make a "publicity hoax" in
which they say they were ""fed up" with Madeleine's behavior
and that "she won't come back". Doesn't make any sense.
Sounds like they were good and truly fed up.

Doesn;t sound like a "joke" either. The question is, did she
skip out on her promotion gigs or not? The paper said she
admitted as much. Does she deny it now?

Sounds to me like her manager is trying to cover up for her
freaking out. It's no crime to freak out, but you shouldn't blame
other people for it. Was this the same manager who organized
that whole scam about the missing "second album"? People
are pretty consistent.

Madeleine's a good singer, but it sounds like she's getting tired
of the life. Can't blame her there.

Tammy

Have you never experienced the world of spin!!! Of course Universal
would create a story if they felt it would get them coverage and create a
media buzz at the time when Madeleine's CD was going into the top ten
in the UK.   Particularly if she was not around to do the promo work they
wanted her to do. I work in the world of media and I know how we too
often manipulate the truth to create a better story. It's all about the buzz.

You are right there is nothing worng with "freaking out" if that is what
happened. But having followed all of the coverage, it really seems rather
ridiculous to hire a Private detective and to say her manager couldn't
contact her when that is where the NY Times reported she was all along. I
suspect here Madeleine just went home to rest after a rather busy time in
Europe. I am sure Universal may be "fed-up" with Madi if she didn't want
to do continuous rounds of interviews. Good for her.

Did you see the post on this website from Madi - see below.

Knowing the world of media as I do I feel quite certain - this is media
hype and the world of spin.

Best - Lulu

"In the most recent past, I was reported missing by the UK Universal
record company and the press folks they hire. And as much as I have
dreamed of doing such a thing in the past, this was a case of the boy's
boss who cried wolf. If any of you had heard this "news" about me going
missing recently, I am attempting to respond to it like this: To put it
frankly, it was a hoax, ... and... a whopper. This was not something that I
condoned beforehand. In any case, if it were meant to be a joke, it was a
bomb.   Madi"
