One of my favourite MP songs is Was I? from the dreamland album. I can get the lyric readily, but does anyone know of the music?

Thanks

Norman

In 1996 Madi appeared on NPR's "All Things Considered" with (I think) Noah Adams. The interview might still be available on the NPR web site. During the interview, she was asked about "Was I". She said she first sang it on the streets of Paris with the band she sang with (Lost & Wandering Blues & Jazz Band). The band's leader had found it on an old compilation tape and wanted Madi to sing it. She said she later found that it was from the Ziegfeld Follies.

That's the sum total of what I know.

One of my favorites!

Written by Chick Endor and Charlie Farrell - Ziegfield Follies...  search them and you should find something.

Thanks - I've got the lyrics, and I've contacted warnerchappell music publishers about the music. The song was performed at the Ziegfield Follies of 1931, and originally published by Miller Music Ltd.

The guitar work is superb - credited to MP on the CD.

Anyway I'll keep you contacted with any result I get.

Regards

Norman
