Dear Fans of Madeline Peyroux,

When I initially heard that William Galison was being accused
of abuse I didn’t take it seriously - I naively thought this whole
incident would quickly blow over because it seemed so
ludicrous. I now realize that when money is at stake, false
accusations and maligning gossip are cheap and effective
tools used by those who do not care to live with integrity. I now
feel compelled to defend this man.

William and I were a couple for more than eight years, until
about five years ago. We spent holidays with eachother’s
families, went on long vacations, laughed, cried, argued and
had beautiful tender moments together. There is much I got to
know about William’s heart day in and day out over eight years.
Our relationship had a hugely positive effect on my life and I’ll
always be grateful for it. Although our romantic involvement did
not work out in the end, our friendship still remains strong and
he is very dear to me.

In our eight years together I never experienced anything
remotely resembling abuse from William - arguments-yes, like
all couples. I cannot even imagine William Galison being
abusive in any way, this is why these accusations are so
distressing to me, especially now that it has become a legal
matter and his reputation as a good, decent person and
exceptional musician is being dragged through the mud. I will
testify on behalf of his character in any court of law.

This situation is a tragic example of how greed and ambition
can corrupt, and how destructive that corruption can be with the
power of lawyers and corporations behind it. The people who
planned this vicious scheme need to be held accountable. I am
especially saddened to hear that Madeline Peyroux, whom
William still speaks of so kindly, cannot find the support and
courage to tell the truth and leave these people behind. I wish
her well and hope for her sake that she finds her way.

Sincerely,

Viviana Diaz
