Hi Forum Friends
I was traveling last week so I did not get the chance to post a little account of Madeleine's show of 16th June here in NYC. I had the privilege to have fabulous tickets for me and my partner in the ochestra of the Beacon. Josh Ritter opened with a fine acoustic set of mostly self-penned songs. His sound is quite similar to that of other singer-songer writers but I really enjoyed his set. Madeleine's set was really fantastic. I really think that this is the best I have seen her perform live. She opened with Blue Alert which seems standard for her shows this year and from the outset seemed relaxed and to be really enjoying the show - which was great. I meant to make a note of the set list but was too carried away in the show - I remember: I am Alright A Little Bit La Javanaise Looking for the Heart of Saturday Night Dance me to the End of Love Don't Cry Baby Weary Blues I Hear Music I think it is gonna Rain Today - which made my spine tingle - a real highlight Another highlight for me was hearing Madeleine sing a new song I had never heard her sing before - I later was informed that it was an old elvis song "Help me make it through the night". Wow. This really was a bonus. Hearing Madeleine sing a new song for me is such a wonderful thing it leaves me wanting more. Madeliene closed the set with Smile and then sang 'Walkin' After Midnight" as an additional song -kind of an encore before she left the stage. She then returned to sing "Half the Perfect World' leaving me swooning. It was really a great gig. I just saw when checking out the other video footage that someone has kindly posted a montage of the show on You Tube. Check it out. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid= -5520408698040119687&q=madeleine+peyroux&total=76&start=20&n um=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=8 Okay that's it for now. Keep lovin' the music. Daisy. |
