Hustlin' Dan Danny Fitzgerald: Vocals & Washtub 1. The Joint Is Jumpin' Spreading Rhythm Around Danny Fitzgerald: Vocals & Washtub 1. Lulu's Back in Town The Best Of 1. Cabaret Remarks: Still available by Internet search. The recording quality is variable, as is disc presentation quality. The Best of... has somewhat better recording/transfer quality. The band's performances are engaging, fresh and slightly raw. Peyroux's vocals (marked *) are instantly recognisable in character. In one or two tracks her slight vocal uncertainty is more than usually present, but by talent and persistence she carries off each one with style. The Band's rhythm and front line are easy, swinging and assured. If one of the male vocalists should long ago have retired from the microphone, in my opinion, the Band is still too good for that to stop one enjoying each of the tracks. Madeleine Peyroux is an artist who has developed an assured style with a wonderful, if slightly uncertain, instrument. Let us wish her every success, and health and happiness to match and nurture her potential for a long and deeply satisfying recording career.
